Design

Focusing on how a system functions as a whole, bringing diversity to a landscape, and creating resilient systems is the best way to make a long lasting change. We take in your vision and ideas to provide an abundant ecosystem for the clients home. Every client has a different taste, every property has a different micro climate, therefore big changes should be thought out to meet one's needs. Some concepts to plan out from (can incorporate some or all):
  • Drought Tolerant Garden to minimize water use
  • Edible Garden (fruit trees, shrubs, veggie boxes)
  • Insectory Garden to attract beneficial pollinators, butterflies, and birds
  • Greywater laundry to garden system
  • Water Features
Our customized designs, created using our architectural software, or drafted by hand to meet our clients needs
Pavers
Picture
Hardscape features around the land help integrate ones experience being with the garden. Bringing the whole system together with paths or structures placed to connect separate sectors or aid the plant's growth. High quality, durable, appealing long lasting features make a difference.
Paths help connect different areas of the property together to make the system a whole and accessible. Our team's expertise on gravel, flag stone, and paver pathways helps our client choose the taste that they desire for the land.
  • Patios can be connected to the path or blended into the natural landscape for a relaxation or hangout zone.
  • Retaining walls have many looks, and can bring different personalities according to taste. Our services include stone, stucco, adobe, cob, and wooden retaining walls.
  • Pergolas and trellises can serve multiple functions, as a zone to relax, and to aid a climbing vine. Or training a fruit tree to grow along a wall as you desire; an ancient French technique called espalier.

Retaining Walls

Retaining walls offer crucial support to prevent soil erosion, improve drainage, and create stable, functional outdoor spaces. With our extensive experience and expertise in installing retaining walls, we ensure that each project is executed with precision and quality, transforming your landscape into a durable and aesthetically pleasing environment.
  • Help prevent erosion by holding back slopes
  • Help improve drainage and guide water as you please or away from walkways
  • Adds more edge and ground for functional walkways or gardens.
Irrigation
Picture
Are you over watering? Spending too much on something that could be more with less? Improve and install the correct style of irrigation. We enjoy working with plants that require less. High grade drip emitter systems, placed with precision could save you gallons a month, while helping during the dry times of the year. Water Wise Gardens are needed now in California more than ever.
  • Durable in line drip systems rarely fail. Under a layer of sheet mulch, you will not notice the hose, and your soil will slowly regain vitality.
  • Precision emitters are the most water wise systems you could use. Barely visible, our crew has a green thumb for these systems.
  • Capturing the water, and spreading it throughout your land is a permaculture principle proven to restore the land over millennia. Placement of on-contour infiltration ditches a.k.a. swales is an easy and affordable way to restore soil life.
  • Rain gardens are usually placed on natural depressions of a property, creating one brings life to plants in it while conserving water.
  • An average washing machine uses 30 gallons of water per wash. Installing a Grey Water system lets you decide whether to shoot the water of the property or onto a selected section of your garden.

Fences / Carpentry

When building a fence, it can play many roles in the design of a landscape. With many years of experience and master craftsmen in our crew West Bear Landscapes pride our selves in quality work and durability.
  • Fences provide sectors for hanging out, gardening, zoning etc.
  • A fence is a great way to add privacy from the neighbors.
  • Or simply to keep deer out and have an abundant garden.
  • A pergola of your taste is a more practical install, looks beautiful on a paver patio, or in the middle of your garden.
  • We can provide a high quality deck, bench, or garden bed of your desired aesthetic to add more features to your landscape.
Planting / Maintenance
Picture
A resilient, long lasting garden, depends on many factors. Above all is strategical placement of plants and plant guilds alike. For many years it has been proven that a live system functions as a whole in many levels, from the soil and micro bacteria to all the beneficial insects that potentially can live and become pollinators of your land.
  • Drought tolerant, along with Native plants can make a difference as a whole in your system and the environment while saving you some money.
  • Fruit trees and shrubs could benefit your family and community. Some attract birds and other wild life while others could put food on the table.
  • Insectory benefecial plants are a key to the ecosystem. Not only do these beautiful blossoms bring a gorgeous look and feeling to a place, but they attracts Native bees, birds, and other pollinators for the plants to produce food, flowers, and seeds for the next generation.
